Outgrowing Hunger

As the school year kicks off, fresh fruit and veggies are the perfect way to brighten lunchboxes and fuel busy days. If your backyard garden is bursting with courgettes, tomatoes, or peaches, why not share the love? Fair Food turns leftovers into lifelines for families who are missing out..

Your donated produce will be shared with local domestic violence shelters, social services, and food banks, making a real difference to families in need.

“To see fruit rotting on the ground when so many Kiwi families have empty cupboards is heartbreaking,” says Fair Food General Manager Michelle Blau. “Fresh, healthy kai can make such a difference, especially for kids. Whether it’s a bag of peaches, a box of tomatoes, or a big bunch of silverbeet, every donation helps.”

Instead of letting your garden abundance go to waste, drop it off to Fair Food’s Hub on Rosebank Road. Have a large lifestyle block? Contact us to arrange a collection or drop off closer to you. Our volunteers will utilise your homegrown goodness to prepare kai parcels or cook from scratch in our Conscious Kitchen.

Kiwis households throw away 157,398 tonnes of food every year, much of it still edible. If you spot fruit trees in your neighborhood that aren’t being picked, offer to lend a hand. It’s a great way to connect with neighbours and stop good food from going to waste.

If you’ve got fresh produce to spare, now is the perfect time to share it! Email us at info@fairfood.org.nz or call 022 167 8963 and let’s make this school term brighter, one lunchbox at a time.
