Every day Fair Food collects over 2 tonnes of surplus fresh food and distributes it at no cost to 50 local support groups including women’s shelters, Plunket and mental health and social service agencies.
Our trucks arrive at midday with the rescued food, then volunteers spend about three hours of picking through crates to separate the good from the funky and prepare the boxes to be shared with kids and families in need.
You can also volunteer in our Conscious Kitchen in the morning.
As a team you will laugh, get your hands dirty and make a real difference by not only giving back to the community but also learning about food insecurity, waste and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
You can view current availability for volunteering as a group on our calendar but please contact us at volunteering@fairfood.org.nz to book your team.
